Leo's life in a nutshell

well..the fact that I am telling my story on a blog named LucaAbreu.com kind of tells a bit of my life in a nutshell.  I am a second baby...

but here is how the last couple of weeks went for me:

I was born.  1 week early.  Probably because my mom works in Corporate America and this gives her all kind of stress for all kinds of unimportant things...but it went like this.

My mom woke up with contractions and tried to tell herself it was just her imagination (because there is no WAY she could have a baby early!)  especially considering that for her maternity leave to kick in I really NEEDED to be born post Feb 4.  After a short stroll around the neighborhood at 4 AM she felt her water break and decided this is actually happening, woke up my Dad, said they needed to maybe start heading to the hospital...but 'no need to hurry"...until there was a need to hurry.  They got stuck in some serious Seattle I-5 traffic and I came pretty close to being born in the car on the freeway, but ended up making it to the hospital in time for 15 minutes of pushing...and then I was here.

I went home and saw the set up is here.  It is cold on the outside!  but I have a big brother who is always willing to cuddle.  Especially face to face when I am trying to sleep.  There is a ton of love around this place.  So much that it can be hard on a little guy like me...

My belly button fell off and I was kind of getting settled in....

..and then all of that love finally got to me!  Bam!  RSV!  3 days in the hospital with all kinds of terrible stuff that I don't remember ....but my mom does :(

and after all of that...here I am again...almost good as new.  Ready for what the next 2 weeks will bring...

Luca turns 1. Eats cake. Eats cake again. Eats cake again. Wears shoes

Luca turned 1 and had lots of celebrations...and by celebrations we mean cake....

He also recently started to walk.  and one sunny Saturday we went to the park and had to wear shoes for the first time!

but just so you don't get the wrong idea...being a walking 1 year old isn't as glam as it may look...it's not all fun and games...sometimes I have to do really hard stuff...wear shirts...seatbelts...diapers...

Adventures with Babysitting

I went back to work and Luca got a new nanny and playmate.  Irma, our nanny, brings, Adam, her baby with her and he and Luca get to hang out all day.  Adam is 3 months younger than Luca, so he gets to show him all of the cool big kid tricks he does.  Unfortunately for Adam, his tricks include: biting, pulling hair and stealing food.  The good news is that Adam almost weighs more than he does and is a fast learner.
